From this Thursday, Charleroi Airport will not just be connected to more than one hundred destinations but also accessible to the whole world thanks to the “google street view” application. It is the first airport in Belgium and Luxembourg to adopt this technology and virtual visits to the airport facilities are now possible from anywhere 24/7.
Explore the terminal, go behind the scenes at the airport after going through security screening, check out a boarding gate, stroll through all the airport shops and even get onto the apron: these are just a few options offered by this incredible application now made available to anyone with internet access. The goal? There are so many benefits. “The first is to facilitate the whole airport experience for our passengers, for example by figuring out the quickest route to the boarding gate area,” explains Eric Poelemans, business development manager. “It is also a practical way of finding out what our boutiques, snack bars, restaurants and duty free shops have to offer, while promoting the profile of all of our authorized businesses. This is a service that is definitely very much in line with our passengers’ expectations.” “Ultimately, google street view is a great window on the world for our airport and all our partners” says BSCA CEO Jean-Jacques Cloquet. “It is a wonderful display of what we have to offer and a great way of promoting our facilities to both current and future airlines.”
The project was completed in less than a month: “We are delighted to be the first airport in Belgium to offer this service,” continues Jean-Jacques Cloquet. “It gives us a real edge.” Of course, all the areas selected to be photographed for the google street view application were first screened by airport management for obvious security reasons.
Don’t delay, discover the “friendly airport”.
