While a similar site, dedicated to surgical products, is already in operation in Courcelles, the La Louvière site specializes in the distribution of medications for AIDS and hepatitis patients, for example. The investment will create 115 jobs.
Currently, over sixty workers are already employed at this enormous, 21,000-m2 distribution center, through which no less than 160 million boxes of medication can transit each year.
It is no accident that Janssen Pharmaceuticals chose La Louvière for its distribution center. “It is near the Charleroi and Brussels airports,” explains Tom Heyman, Managing Director. “There are many highways here. It is also near our consumers, and we are in the center of Europe.”
The company also chose to locate its site in La Louvière and the Wallonia region due to the 11 million euros in grants that it has received, a sum that represents over 20% of the total investment (49 million euros in all).
