The store was originally planned for Theux but the French group finally opted for the outlet mall in west Verviers.
Philippe Henry, Minister for Regional Planning approved this option because it will allow Theux, an industrial zone, to take advantage of its existing infrastructure to welcome small, medium and very small enterprises. Furthermore, this type of brand needs a strategic location in terms of centrality and accessibility by public transport. The wool town site appears to have more to offer in this regard.
The Mayor of Theux is not disappointed; on the contrary, he is delighted that Decathlon is setting up in the region. The impact on employment and economic activity can only be good!
