Federal assistance measures to help Belgian airlines compete with low-cost airlines operating in our country are well received in Wallonia.

Indeed, if the figures were already good for Wallonia’s airports last year (there was a 14% growth in the number of passenger numbers at BSCA while Liege airport is the 7th largest cargo airport in Europe), we can expect that they will be even better this year. Brussels Airlines, Jetairfly, Thomas Cook and TNT Airways now all receive the same tax status which represents an investment of EUR 30 million per year over a 10 year in exemptions from withholding tax and reductions in employer contributions.

Outside of Brussels Airlines, the other three companies operate in Wallonia. It can logically be expected that the good growth of the Brussels South Charleroi Airport and Liege Airport will continue, further boosting Wallonia’s competitiveness!
